A.C.C.E.S.S. ALAS

A.C.C.E.S.S. Literacy Assessment System (ALAS): An AI-Powered, Multilingual Literacy Assessment and Growth Monitoring Platform for Inclusive Education

ALAS is not designed to be a cold, standalone test, but rather the essential, living assessment companion to the A.C.C.E.S.S. Literacy Framework. Built from the ground up for multilingual learners, bilingual education, and Special Education, ALAS transforms measurement into a seamless bridge of equity and understanding.

The magic lies in how the platform processes student thinking. Multiple-choice questions are scored instantly, giving immediate data points, while advanced, human-centered AI steps in to evaluate complex constructed responses with nuanced accuracy.

Instead of waiting weeks for data, the system immediately translates the student’s performance into actionable insight. ALAS tracks holistic growth across the academic year, exporting data seamlessly into district databases. It instantly generates comprehensive, easy-to-read teacher reports to drive daily differentiation, alongside deeply thoughtful parent reports that bridge the home-school connection in a language families understand. This isn’t just another testing tool; this is the precise, responsive system that forward-thinking school districts currently need for their teachers and students.

Join Us in Advancing the Future of Inclusive Literacy Assessment

The A.C.C.E.S.S. Literacy Assessment System (ALAS) is an ambitious initiative to transform how literacy growth is measured for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and all developing readers. More than an assessment, ALAS is designed to provide educators with meaningful, longitudinal data that informs instruction, supports equitable decision-making, and demonstrates authentic student growth over time.

This work cannot be accomplished alone. We invite universities, school districts, ministries of education, nonprofit organizations, AI researchers, psychometricians, software developers, multilingual education specialists, and literacy advocates (eventually philanthropic foundations, technology companies) to partner with us in designing, validating, and scaling this innovative assessment system.

We are currently seeking strategic partnerships, pilot schools, research collaborators, technical advisors, (and eventually, grant funding) to support assessment development, multilingual translation, AI-assisted scoring, software engineering, psychometric validation, accessibility research, and international implementation. Every contribution helps move this project closer to providing educators with an evidence-based, accessible, and sustainable tool that can improve literacy outcomes for learners around the world.

By investing in ALAS, you are not simply supporting the development of another assessment. You are helping build an open, research-informed framework for measuring literacy growth that empowers teachers, advances inclusive education, supports responsible AI in schools, and expands educational opportunity for communities that have historically been underserved.

If your organization shares this vision, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate in shaping the next generation of equitable literacy assessment. Email me at solangala@yahoo.com.
