This AI tool is a strong next-generation tool because it moves beyond asking, “Does this scaffold help?” and asks the harder question: “Is the scaffold helping the learner become more capable, or is the scaffold becoming part of the task?”
It is designed as a companion to our Scaffold Fade Analyzer and Scaffold Lifecycle Tracker, with a strong emphasis on evidence rather than labeling a student as “dependent.”
This tool evaluates whether an instructional scaffold is effectively building learner agency and independence or showing signs of continued reliance. It does NOT diagnose student ability, intelligence, or disability, nor does it make legal/IEP decisions. Continued use of a required IEP/504 accommodation is NOT automatically evidence of dependency. Never remove a legally required support.
